How to use Protect PDF

Can I recover the password if I forget it?
No. The password is never stored by us, so there is no reset. Keep a copy somewhere safe before you send the file.
What if the original PDF already has a password?
Unlock it first with Unlock PDF, then protect it again with your new password.
Does protecting the PDF change its appearance?
No. Encryption hides the content; the pages, fonts and layout stay exactly as they were.
