Word to Text

Word to Text strips a .docx down to its plain words — no styles, no headers, no tables, just the text. It is what you want when you need to quote a document, paste content into another system, run a word count, or hand text to a tool that will not accept a Word file. The document is read locally in your browser.

How to use Word to Text

  1. Choose the .docx file you want to extract text from.
  2. Press Convert and the document is parsed in your browser.
  3. Review the output — paragraphs are separated by line breaks.
  4. Copy the text or download it as a .txt file.

Word to Text FAQ

Is my document uploaded?

No. The file is read and parsed locally by the page, so confidential documents never leave your device.

What happens to images and tables?

They are not carried over — this tool returns text only. Use Word to HTML if you need the structure and styling preserved.

Does it work with older .doc files?

Modern .docx is supported. Save legacy .doc files as .docx from Word first, or convert them to PDF instead.
