Excel to CSV

Excel to CSV pulls the rows out of a workbook and hands them back as plain, portable CSV — the format every database, script and import tool understands. Use it when you need to feed spreadsheet data into a system that will not accept .xlsx, or when you want a lightweight copy without the formatting overhead.

How to use Excel to CSV

  1. Choose the workbook you want to export — .xlsx and .xls are both accepted.
  2. Press Convert to read the first sheet into CSV rows.
  3. Review the output; the header row becomes the first line.
  4. Download the .csv file or copy it to the clipboard.

Excel to CSV FAQ

Which sheet does it use?

The first sheet in the workbook. Move the sheet you want to the front position before converting.

Are formulas converted to values?

Cell values as displayed are exported, so formulas resolve to their results rather than their expressions.

Does it work with several columns and empty cells?

Yes — columns are aligned by position and empty cells stay empty, so rows keep their structure.
